SANRIO® Names New Vice President of Marketing

Mas Imai, President and Chief Operating Officer of SANRIO Inc., has announced the appointment of Andrea Sobel as Vice President of Marketing. Ms. Sobel will be based in SANRIO's Los Angeles office and will report directly to Mr. Imai. The appointment is effective immediately.

"I am very pleased to have Andrea as a member of our management team," says Mr. Imai. "Andrea brings to the team a fresh marketing and brand perspective that complements Sanrio’s strategic direction for the future."

As Vice President of Marketing, Ms. Sobel will be responsible for the development and implementation of brand and marketing strategies for SANRIO. She will also play a significant part in the market development and brand positioning of SANRIO's emergent characters. In addition, Ms. Sobel will also head up the brand management committee.

"I am thrilled to be part of the Sanrio team and to be working with such a global and iconic brand," says Ms. Sobel. "I grew up with Sanrio and have been a huge fan ever since I bought my first Hello Kitty eraser!"

Ms. Sobel comes to SANRIO with over 15 years experience in licensing, marketing and brand development. She spent nine years with Guess? Inc. as Vice President of Licensing and Product Development, followed by the position of Director of Licensing and Business Development for Murad, Inc. She was also a principal in ALS Consulting, a firm specializing in marketing and brand development. The firm handled the recent broadcast and new media launch for the Ashy Agency in Los Angeles, as well as the development and execution of global marketing strategies, brand positioning, promotional and advertising directives for a variety of apparel, beauty, manufacturing and retail clients. In addition, Ms. Sobel is an instructor at FIDM where she teaches marketing and branding courses.
