My 6 year old received this backpack from her Mimi for the 2011 school year. The quality of the fabric is a bit heavier than most and will last a while. The extra pockets are great for adding last minute items. It's very cute, stylish and not like the backpacks you see every kid with at school. This backpack is very roomy, and it would be ideal for older kids. Although she is 6, she's tall for her age and this backpack is still big for her frame, but it works as I could see this lasting for a few years. I love Hello Kitty and so does she. I have truly created a Hello Kitty fanatic!
P.S. the backpack looks better in person ;)
