Workshops are available each day at 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm at the Japanese American National Museum (JANM) complex right next door to MOCA. Workshop tickets are $10 per workshop time slot. Remember to bring your workshop ticket and your Hello Kitty Con badge to enter the workshop room.

Attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a ticketed parent or guardian in this area.

Hello Kitty Flower Arranging

Helen Zoller works on the creative team at Rolling Greens as the Events Coordinator, Display Coordinator, and Internship Manager. Rolling Greens is southern California's most unique home and garden destination. The store has long been a vital source for landscape architects, interior designers, event planners, and production designers.


Hello Kitty Cookie Decorating

Yummy cookies! Join I Heart Baking! blogger extraordinaire and The Hello Kitty Baking Book author Michele Chen Chock to decorate your very own Hello Kitty cookie.

Michele Chen Chock is a self-taught baker and the creator of I Heart Baking!, a popular baking blog with a heavy dose of Hello Kitty desserts. She specializes in the Hello Kitty macaron. Her work has appeared online for publications such as Glamour, Wedding Bells, and The Huffington Post. She lives in California with her husband and three young kids. You can visit her at The Hello Kitty Baking Book, published by Quirk Books, will be available Fall 2014.

Amy Tan was born and raised in Chicago. She learned how to sew her senior year of high school and within five years she had become an award-winning designer and founder of the popular handcrafted t-shirt line Amy Tangerine. Her collections were featured in hundreds of retail outlets, including Bloomingdales. In 2007, her business expanded to include scrapbooking.

Katie Chin, cookbook author, television chef, food blogger (, YouTuber, and Culinary Ambassador to City of Hope, is committed to teaching the American public that the very best Asian cooking can be achieved in a real home kitchen by real people on real schedules. Katie co-hosted the PBS cooking series Double Happiness and has made numerous TV appearances including Iron Chef America, Today Show and was a featured celebrity chef at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.

Sushi Girl (aka Nikki Gilbert) has worked in Japanese restaurants ever since she was a teenager. Nikki moved to Japan where she lived and worked for three years before returning home to Los Angeles to start Sushi Girl®. She was the subject of a prime-time Japanese television show and has been featured on a number of national television programs and has several published articles including the front page of the Los Angeles Times Food Section.

Hello Nails! Join Sanrio Tokyo's resident nail artist and Hello Kitty Nail Art book author Masako Kojima to learn how to Hello Kitty-fy your fingertips.

Masako Kojima joined the team in 2012, becoming the first official nail artist for Sanrio. Specializing in Hello Kitty artwork, Masako hand paints the pop icon and other Sanrio characters on the nails of fans of all ages. Masako travels around the globe to educate on how to create the perfect Hello Kitty nail art. The Hello Kitty Nail Art book, published by Abrams, will be available Fall 2014.

She currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband Jason and their two cats, Hurts and Morgan.

Ji Kim is an architectural designer by day and a self-taught paper florist by night. Ji developed a love for sculpting paper flowers upon discovering the sculptural properties of European crepe paper, which resulted in Blooms in the Air, a petite and whimsical paper flower shop.

Founded in 2003 by husband-and-wife team Ted Vadakan and Angie Myung, Poketo has become widely recognized as an online destination for innovative art and design.
