Permission for Sanrio to Repost User Generated Content
Sanrio appreciates your creativity and enthusiasm for our characters! We would like to celebrate your creativity by sharing your image (User Generated Content aka UGC).
First, we need you to guarantee that you are the one who created the UGC that we’ve asked for permission to share. By answering “YES” to our request, you are warranting that no part of your UGC was copied from any other source (except Sanrio’s own characters). If that is not true, you must decline our request. In this context, “copied” refers not just to digital or exact copies, but also your own interpretations of someone else’s pre-existing artwork (or music, literary, or audio-visual works).
Sanrio would like to share your UGC which may include any of the following ways:
• Sanrio may post your UGC on Sanrio’s social media pages, such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and the like
• Sanrio may show your UGC on its own websites, including Sanrio.com
• Sanrio may include your UGC in emails, sent internally or to its fans and customers
• Sanrio may include your UGC on sizzle reels, presentations, and other brand materials
• Sanrio may include your UGC in its newsletters, press releases, and other promotional materials
Note, these types of venues and materials are constantly being updated. By asking for this permission, Sanrio is not guaranteeing that your UGC will be shared in any of these ways, or that it will remain on such materials for any length of time. You understand and agree that Sanrio is not offering monetary compensation to share your UGC.
Sanrio will not intentionally remove any credit information that is integrated as part of your visible image, but we may not be able to ensure that visible credits, or other types of markers, such as embedded metadata, will remain intact. Depending upon how they are incorporated into the images, such markers are automatically removed by many applications for reposting images, and we can’t control those programs. Sanrio may post your user information with the shared UGC but will not be required to do so.
For clarity, Sanrio owns copyright, trademark, and other proprietary rights in its character names and images. Under intellectual property laws and Sanrio’s contracts with its many licensees, Sanrio must control commercial use of its intellectual property. Sanrio does not grant rights for UGC to be incorporated into commercial merchandise for sale, including for example, art prints, t-shirts, caps, stickers, etc., and Sanrio’s request to share your UGC should not be interpreted as permission to do so. If we see that happening, we may take legal steps to stop it (whether or not you give us permission to share your UGC).
Ultimately, by responding YES or uploading content to any of Sanrio’s official social media pages, you agree to the following: You grant to Sanrio and its affiliates and/or related entities, a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive, transferable right to use your video(s), photo(s) and/or other content posted to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter,or TikTok, together with your social media handle, social media user name, profile picture, caption and/or location information you may have included in your UGC that you have tagged with any Sanrio related hashtag(s), in any media, including but not limited to on its webpages and social media pages, retailer sites, third party sites, stores for its marketing and/or its advertising.
If you do not wish to grant Sanrio permission to use your UGC as outline herein, do not post on Sanrio’s social media sites, use Sanrio related hashtags, or submit to Sanrio any confidential information or any original creative materials such as stories, product ideas, computer code or original artwork
